Ballincrossig N.S.

..Welcome to the Ballincrossig N.S school website. We are a two teacher country school held under the patronage of the Catholic Bishop of Kerry. Our school is a community where all pupils are equally valued and respected irrespective of sex, religious and social background, family circumstance or intellectual functioning.

The school seeks to develop a sense of Catholic values hand in hand with the curriculum and to mantain Christian standards of behaviour throughtout the school day, in both the classroom and the playground.

From the day to day running of the school to the work of the Board of Management and the support of the Parents Association, tolerence and respect are afforded to all.

The Curriculum and the learning process.

The revised Primary school Curriculum of September 1999 is followed closely in every respect. We share the core values of the curriculum:
>to celebrate the uniqueness of each child.
>to develop each child's potential to the full.

With the primary school curriculum we recognise that children learn best when they are actively involved in learning, when learning arouses their curosity and harnesses their sense of wonder and when they experience success in learning.

The school also welcomes the curriculum's emphasis on: working together to learn, the importance of language, hands on experience, literacy and numeracy, an integrated curriculum, assessment, the environment and Information and Communication technology.
